Home Visits

Doctor's bag

When necessary a home visit can be arranged. Generally this will only be for housebound patients or those with terminal disease.

A GP can see several patients in the time it takes to do one home visit. It is also preferable to be seen and examined at the surgery where access to your medical records and a full range of examination equipment is available. For these reasons, please only request a home visit if you feel it is necessary. Requests should be made as early in the morning as possible.

Home visits will only be made where the doctor considers there to be a medical need and consequently you should normally expect that the doctor will ring back before coming to see you. We do this in order to obtain further details, as there may be a more appropriate way of dealing with the problem than visiting you at home.
