Immunisation and Injection Technique Training for Nurses, HCSWs / HCAs, Pharmacists, Paramedics and Allied Health Professionals
Covid Lockdown Tailored Training Package
This in-house training package has been created by a practicing ANP who is a qualified mentor and trainer: Claire Burge and has been approved by the Royal College of Nursing as reaching their standards.
Claire's experience is extensive and the access to her knowledge through the workbook and testing process is second to none. Claire also finalises the process with a face to face session online where the candidate can ask questions and they can discuss the feedback. This is when the certificate is awarded.
This training is not just intended for an HCA, it can be applied to other health professionals if relevant.
As the employer you are able to rest assure the quality of the training means your member of staff is competent and confident to take forward the role you need them to undertake. There is a minimum requirement for each candidate and that is below*
The standard list of immunisations and vaccinations that can be undertaken once this training package has been passed is:
- Influenza both Adult and Child
Content of Workbook
General anatomical knowledge of the skin
Demonstrate understanding of injections
Understanding of PSD’s
Demonstrate preparation, procedure and safe storage and disposal
Recognise safeguarding issues
Recognise and manage anaphylaxis reaction and BLS
Record and document accurately
National standards, competencies and role of supervisor
Understanding of role as HCA
Content of PowerPoint
Video and pictorial content to support learning
Complete and pass the e-learning for health immunisation course online
A question paper which needs to be completed and passed with at least 80% with certain questions regarding safety making it a pass or fail.
Competences of seeing 10 patients actioned by Supervising Nurse, doing 20 supervised with same Nurse with 5 pieces of reflective writing to show learning.
An Objective Structured Clinical Examination for both types of injections which will be recorded and added to their portfolio
Online Q&A Session and Certification
This is an online session with Trainer ANP Claire Burge for any questions the HCA may have regarding the training or practice of immunisations.
Claire will also be using this time to feedback on the test paper and competences submitted.
It will be a approx. 20 minute session using Zoom or MS Teams, so one of these facilities will need to be made available for the HCA to use.
A certificate will be issued to the HCA confirming a successful completion of the training package and will also receive the feedback document from the meeting above.

The HCA/Phlebotomist needs to have only studied at level 3, not necessarily passed the courses above, to demonstrate a level of academic intelligence and aptitude. There will be a box on the booking form for you to tick to acknowledge your HCA/Phlebotomist fulfills the criteria. No further proof will be needed.
