Nurses

Julie Akers

My first job was working at All Saints Hospital as an Occupational AIDE for 1 year, then started nursing auxilliary work on the wards for 1 year until I started my Psychiatric nurses training.

I studied at Hellingly hospital from 1977-1980. After qualification I staffed for eighteen months then went to Israel, to a kibbutz for 1 year.

I returned to do my RGN training at EDGH for eighteen months, and then staffed for years in medical then surgical wards.

In 1985 I had a family and returned in 1997 to work as a community nurse in the district nursing team.

I joined Manor Park Medical Centre as a Practice Nurse in 2011 and have a particular interest in special diabetes and ears.

Michelle Hewitt

I studied Nursing at Brighton School of Nursing in 1991. After qualifying, my first job was as a staff nurse on the medical assessment unit at Eastbourne. I worked there for 2 years, then went on to work at St Wilfreds Hospice. Although I enjoyed this work, I returned to Eastbourne Hospital after 2 years and started a post in A&E. I left A&E when I had children and started work as a community nurse in Lewes, then more locally in Polegate.

I started working at Manor Park as a Practice Nurse in 2010. I continue to study in all areas and love the variety and different skills this job demands, but have a special interest in respiratory nursing, wound care and infection control.

Healthcare Assistants

Victoria Wishart

In November 2016 I started working at Manor Park Medical Centre as their HCA.
